Introduction
Welcome to 2020WorldsFair.com. My hope with this site is to help generate interest in and a dialogue about a world’s fair (also known as an “international exposition” or “world expo”) in San Francisco in 2020.
2020 is also the next open slot available for an international exposition of the larger scale, sanctioned by the Bureau International des Expositions (the BIE). Expo 2010 will be held in Shanghai, San Francisco’s sister city in China. The location for Expo 2015 has yet to be determined but the bidding process has been locked. Izmir, Turkey; Wroclaw, Poland; or Toronto, Canada will be chosen to host a world's fair in 2015.
Primarily, I’ve created this site to explore some ideas I have for such an exposition and solicit ideas from others on how this could become a reality.

Additionally, I would like to affect change in the follow areas that are related to such an exposition:

Facilitate the United States rejoining the BIE, which had been a member from the 1960's to 2003,

Create interest in San Francisco joining the Association of Cities and Regions Hosting an International Exposition (the AVE) as it is eligible having hosted the 1915 Panama-Pacific Exposition, and

Propose a San Francisco presence at Expo 2010 in Shanghai.

What are your ideas? Join the dialogue by joining the San Francisco World's Fair discussion group. A world's fair is obviously a major undertaking, but I believe a successful one in the United States will need to have grassroots support and we can start with getting the USA back into the BIE and giving San Francisco a seat at the table through membership in the AVE and a presence at Expo 2010.
